The hike to this summit is off-trail through a thick lodgepole and fir forest. Although the undergrowth is only calf high, there is a moderate amount of deadfall through most of the hike, which makes for slower going.
From the summit of Stemple Pass, drive 1.7 miles down the west (north) side. Park in the small clearing just west of the turn-off for FS-4052. Hike north up to the ridge, picking your way through the deadfall and follow the ridge westerly as it swings above some private property and finally to the summit. The summit has been cleared and offers views to the Southeast towards the continental divide and the Granite Butte (W7M/CL-085) fire lookout (available to rent). This hike is on the fringe of grizzly bear habitat, so it is prudent to be Bear-Aware.
