Calimus is a drive up summit with manned lookout that was built in 1920. Very cute little lookout and great views of course. When I went Sharon was working and was very welcoming and we had a great tour and visit. She couldn't join me for the activation because she was on extreme fire watch, unable to leave her upstairs and radios. She knew some other hams including a neighboring lookout worker at Spodue.
Take Road 600 east of Chiloquin and turn on road 4542, sign and large pullout at entry. Pretty self explanatory. Roads going up are pretty good. A bit washboardy but very nice compared to some others I have done this weekend!
Plenty of area to set up. I hooked my pole to the lookout sign and set up in the parking space beside it. I did have a lot of noise on 40 and not sure if it was from something at the lookout.
