These directions are somewhat vague, because I don't recall exactly how we got there on the maze of Forest Roads. A GPS will be your best bet to get close.
From Lakeview, Oregon take Oregon Highway 140 north toward Paisley. Following Hwy 140, turn right onto Hwy 140 east toward Adel. Turn right onto FS-3615 near 42.225° -120.23°. Head south and reach a five way intersection where you'll continue about 6.7 miles on FS-4011. We parked several miles short of the peak as the road deteriorated beyond what we were comfortable with in a high clearance 4WD vehicle.  If you follow FS-4011 to the end it will lead you to a nice level former lookout site - this is NOT the summit and not in the AZ but is almost 0.8 miles north of the actual summit of Crane Mountain. There is a faint trail leading to the true summit near 42.0723° -120.2409° off of FS-4011. There are a few small trees near the summit proper to rig an antenna. You should not expect to work anyone on 2m FM in this area.
