Chinese Peak is one of the few drive-ups in the area during the Spring, Summer and Fall. Take South 5th street in Pocatello Idaho and Turn East at Barton Rd. You will arrive at a large turn around /TH..if the BLM gate is open you can drive all the way to the summit. This gate closes to motorized vehicles from Nov 15th to April 1st due to it is a winter game range.
There are alot of various towers on the summit. It is a great summit to chase on or to learn SOTA activating.
The TH is located 2 miles East of Pocatello. It is a 6 mile round trip on a BLM service road. This service road is closed on Nov. 16 to motorized vehicles but foot travel is encouraged. On the summit you can see the whole Snake River Plain. The trail t’s very family friendly. There are times snowshoes are not needed until the last mile. There is a nice TH that is dog friendly. Leashes are mandatory.
If hiking from the TH it is a 6 mile round trip. If activating during the Bonus months prepare accordingly for severe Winter weather.
Cheers !
