WARNING: Google Maps insists that there is a drivable road up through the South Fork Prison.  Let me assure you there is not.  It is clearly posted No Trespassing and they mean it.  The route should start from the intersection of Hwy 6 and Ben Smith Rd.

As Bill WJ7WJ mentioned in 2020, this summit is still a drive up.  Though I'm not sure I would do it in a passenger car as the final climb is a bit steep.  We ran into some motorcyclists at the summit so try to stay on one side or the other of the flat area at the top so they don't run across your coax or whatever.  On a clear sunny day, you can see for miles in all directions.

Note that there are no trees of any kind on this summit so bring something to guy down your antenna mast.  Rich KJ7UIP and I quickly worked enough contacts on 2m and 20m and proceeded off to W7O/NC-091.

If one starts early and is well prepared, it is possible to activate all 4 1pt summits (W7O/NC-{091,083,097,087}) along that stretch of Hwy 6 in one day.

This is also US-5461 for POTA folks.
