I'm new to SOTA, but for now I'm focused on 2m FM around the Puget Sound :)

Retired fire service. Amateur Radio Operator since 1990.

I recently answered several activators on 2 meters from my home QTH in Prineville, Oregon. I would like to get more involved with both chasing and activating.

Hello, all! I am a Tacoma based SOTA activator with aspirations to activate at least one summit per month until I hit my goat!

I like to activate peaks that are a challenging hike or climb all throughout Washington. I hope to expand out into more regions later, especially those I can travel to with my airline benefits. I currently activate with an Elecraft KX2 or a Penntek TR-35. I also chase remotely from my QTH with an Icom 9700 or a Flex 6400. My favorite activated summits so far have definitely been Mount Baker (W7W/WH-001) and Mount Hood (W7O/CN-001)!

I work as a paramedic and enjoy doing volunteer search & rescue. I'm into skiing, mountaineering, hiking, running, and hangin out with the cat.

I've been doing some 2m activations, hoping to add 10m soon and learning CW.

After a thirty year break from commercial radio, Tom is back on the air as a Ham. He is currently uses an ICOM 7300 with a vertical antenna, and interested in QRP radios and tinkers with an ICOM 705 and Elecraft KX3 as portable devices. He recently upgraded to Extra Class in February 2012, and is interested primarly in Phone, DStar, digital and emergency communications. He enjoys helping in public events and currently volunteers with the Blaine Auxillary Communications Service (Blaine Police Department) and Whatcom County Auxillary Communications Service (Whatcom County Sheriff's Office) Recently assisted Snohomish County, Washington during the Oso landslide by manning the EOC in Everett March of 2014 as a communications operator. Much to my surprise I was awarded an ARRL certificate and a letter from our Governor for our assistance in the Oso slide effort in 2014.

I ma just now getting started

Hi! I’ve been active in HAM radio and SOTA as of January 2023. Excited to have a reason to get in more exploration of the state, learn more about radio and meet like minded folks at the same time. My call sign used to belong to my grandmother.

Only done peak activations so far, as I am only able to have a handheld at home and not been able to chase successfully yet.

I'm a fan of ultralight backpacking, climbing, paddleboarding and other outdoor hobbies. I also enjoy tinkering, so this seems like a fun combination of two hobbies that don't always get to interact.

New to this hobby—got into it as a member of a SAR team. Currently only a technician and I'm still figuring out what kind of gear I want invest in beyond my simple HT for searches.

Licensed as WN7DEO in 1965. As WA7DEO upgraded to Extra. 1996 changed call to K7VK.
Retired Forest Ecologist/Forest Silviculturist USFS.
Operate 160m through 70cm. New to SOTA in 2016. Love to summit scramble and wish I'd have known about SOTA years ago.

I activate and chase. Got into SOTA in 2016. Now using a KX3 and am looking forward to scrambling summits while I'm still able to. SOTA has already taken me to summits I would not have otherwise hiked. Two summits activated in and near the Bob Marshall/Scapegoat Wilderness have thrilling views, W7M/GA-084 & GA-163. My heart rate elevated when my radio was placed near large piles (fortunately old) of grizzly bear scat.

Casual amateur trying to get back in to the hobby without a decent home station. Mostly active VHF/UHF mobile or portable, HF QRP while camping (and hopefully activating summits when I figure this all out).

Interested, but not yet active, in SOTA -- not a climber so I don't expect to activate "exciting" summits but I do enjoy hiking and incorporating radio in to that seems fun. I've made a couple of VHF contacts with SOTA folks that I happened to hear on the air, but haven't "chased."

Ham'd up in 2022 with a General and looking to explore POTA and SOTA in the PNW. Extra in 2023.

Been active since the start of 2023 with over 300 points invested in summits in Oregon, Washington and California, and growing! I love operating QRP with a Xiegu X6100 and a 41' random wire antenna into a 9:1 unun. It's a very versatile setup. Happy to activate with newcomers or experienced operators!
