Beginner SOTA person. Ham since '98, started mainly out of curiosity but developed interest. Now retired, this is my main hobby. I like the outdoors. I like to work portable when I travel around the countryside. I look for new and interesting places to go and to activate new places if I can.
I would like the activate weather permitting, chase otherwise.

Just started in early 2022. Mainly HF but now branching out into VHF since it is less equipment to take to a summit. Is a great excuse to get outside, get exercise and play radio.
Been licensed since 1978. Lived the last 32 years in Fairbanks AK. Retired from aviation. Spending time portable, especially in the winter. We have a farm in Brady, WA and are snowbirding there.
I do a lot of hiking, thru hiked the PCT and AT. I've been chasing SOTA for a year, I am a Shack Sloth! I have a KX2 and plan to do a lot of activations in the PNW and Alaska soon.

Just starting out, I've not activated yet but am mostly interested in hike in activations. Currently I'm setting up an Anytone Mobile rig to use for both chasing and possibly activations later.
Physicist, started ham radio in 2019, interested in DX and SOTA. Got DXCC and Mobile DXCC, now working on the Mountain Goat, QRP DXCC and eventually Mobile QRP DXCC.
Activating SSB and working on CW. IC-705, with inverted V EFHW on 40m and quarter wave verticals on higher bands.
I earned an Advanced Class license around 1969, but operated only CW on 40 Meters on a homebrew Navy surplus transmitter and Heathkit HR10 receiver. The sunspot cycle was great those years. I often wishied I could drag my gear up a mountain. With college and career I let my license lapse. 50 years later I have the itch again, so I got a QRP HF transceiver and am building a tri-band EFHW antenna for SOTA.
I’ve only accompanied a SOTA member on a couple of activations in the Seattle area. I’m thinking of putting an HF QRP rig together to do some of my own.
I am 72 and retired. I have been a ham sense High School in 1965. I enjoy working SSB, CW, and FT8. Three months ago I got interest in SOTA. I am a VE and have been running the Dallas Oregon VE testing.
I have been chasing for the past Five months. I currently have 400+ unique summits logged. I have activated 5 summits so far. I already have a KX3. With Troy (KF7SEY) has been helping me put together a go back. I have a EFHW antenna thanks to K7BHB, just finished a Slim Jim J-pole for 2m/70cm and just finished a Linked Dipole.
Bend, Oregon and mostly playing with JS8CALL on a Raspberry Pi lately, Winlink, APRS and voice contacts. I am the Air Operations Team Coordinator with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue.
I'm outdoors with Search and Rescue a lot and just love the outdoors and usually have a radio with me. I haven't done much with SOTA specifically, but have chased an operator (K7AGL) on W70/CE-208. I think I've contacted others but that is the only one in my logbook thus far.
9 years a ham. Active in POTA and want to start SOTA soon as snow is off high points. 4 years president of Olympia Amateur radio Society. Guilty of trying to do it all. Participate as communicator in over 12 events each year, help organizing 2. Active in Thurston County ARES.

Just getting started in SOTA. Running a ic-705 and in id-52 at the moment. Using a mat-705 tuner and various antennas for activating.
Base station is a 7300 with an inverted v and an FTM-400 with a diamond triband.

I enjoy spending time outdoors and learning new skills. SOTA seems like a great combination.
Currently hold technician license but aiming to get general in the next 2 months. My goal is to mostly activate but also chase, to start with I have a Xiegu G90 (would like to get something more compact once I get started) with Packtenna EFHW for HF and a Yaesu FT3D for 2m.
I like any SOTA activation, but especially like summits that have never been activated, and we have a LOT of those in my region and surrounding regions. I have an IC705 and a KX2 and use a multi-band end fed, a linked dipole, and a random wire, and for a mast I use an ebay carbon fiber fishing pole. Works wonders.
Long distance hiker recently into ham radio and just started doing SOTA
I do at least one long distance(100-250 mile) hike every year and doing SOTA along the way only makes sense. I have an IC705, CHASs17 antenna with the Icom tuner and PowerFilm Lightsaver Max for doing QRP. I’m hoping to get Mt. Adams and some of the other local summits activated in the next year or so.
