Retired forester. New ham, technician.
New to SOTA. I enjoy geocaching, so these two should be a blast.
See Website.
First SOTA Chase 10/10/21: W7W/WE-021, Krell Hill, Spokane WA.
I've been a licensed ham for about 35 years, with a rich background in ARES/RACES county- and state-level leadership, as well as founding Manager of the SOTA W8M (Michigan) Association. I reside in central Michigan.
I was the founding Manager of the SOTA W8M (Michigan) Association for about eight years, now retired from that role.
I am a U.S. Army veteran. I served from 1998 to 2002. Since then I have been a carpenter, E.M.T., Firefighter and now I am in law enforcement. I received my technician license on July 2, 2022. I activated my first summit today (10/05/2022). I look forward to activating a lot more in the future. I got into Ham due to a forest fire in June 2022, where all lines of communication were cut off and I had no idea on what was going on around me- until I remembered I had a ham radio to listen in on. I was hooked after that. 73's to all! KN6UZB
Looking to be an activator and in the future a chaser for my son. I am currently using a Baofeng UV-5r, however I will be installing a Yaesu ftm 200 dr in my jeep soon.
Fairly new to Amateur Radio. Climbing and backpacking in the Northwest for over 40 years... Interested in combining the two activities / hobbies. Live on Whidbey with line of site to Cascades and Olympics for receiving check ins from other SOTA participants.
Just getting started. Activating and some chase. Yaesu FT2D for packing, FTM400xdr mobile.
I am a newly licensed ham and a late bloomer to the sport. I'm 65 years old and have a great love for hiking and the outdoors. The SOTA activities are icing on the cake as they combine both mt interests into one activity.
I like to activate summits and use both have a Yaesu FT2D handheld at 5 watts and an Elecreft KX3 for the other bands. I have a portable 4 element yagi antenna for 2 meters and have received good signals up to 91 miles so far.. I'm in rural Montana so there are few that know of the sport. Makes it more challenging to activate.
Relatively new to Amateur Radio, just licensed in 2021. Only on VHF/UHF so far.
Chasing only so far.
Retired Aitr Traffic Controller, Ham since 1970, enjoy bicycling, camping, hiking, QRP dxing portable.
Would like to get involved ith activations. Have not yet. Like QRPand portable.
Ham for 50+ years. Brand new to SOTA.
Have made one contact with a ham activating Bald Peak State Park.
I live in beautiful North Vancouver, B.C. and just got my license in August 2019. Looking at starting SOTA next spring and need to get ready!
Nothing yet. I'll update this when I get there.
I'm slowly activating peaks as I have time. My climbing partner, KJ7RTO and I are trying to activate as many unactivated peaks as possible.
Now known as KE7B
Primarily interested in activating but will chase here and there. Planning to work on only 2m with my handheld at 5w or less.
I have been active in ham radio since 1993. I've held three different callsigns since that time, the final being K4MTW. My Station consists of a Yaesu FT DX10, FT857d and a number of different antennas.
I would like to chase summits. I haven't tried an activation but would like to one day. I currently have a fixed station consisting of a Yaesu FTDX10, Yaesu FT857d. I have a modified G5RV and end fed antennas as well as a 4BTV vertical. I do operate as a POTA hunter and would love to chase SOTA.
