Hiking in Western Washington. 2m/70cm via HT.
Washington native who loves to hike the PNW. I received my technicians license in Sept. 2018 and upgraded to general in Feb. 2019. Someday I will try for Amateur Extra, but not quite ready yet. I have yet to make any DX contacts, but hope to spend some time at the home radio this winter. As for SOTA, my goal is to become the first YL to reach mountain goat status in the W7W association. Wish me luck!
My home region is Snohomish County, but we love to spend time in Eastern Washington. With the help of my "sherpa" husband (KD7JB), I have been the 1st time activator on a few lower elevation summits in Chelan and Okanogan Counties.
Just got into SOTA late summer of 2021. Exploring and ham radio, what's not to love? Currently only on 2m and 70cm, but hoping to add some HF gear to the kit soon.
Currently I only have 2m and 70cm capability. I primarily activate in the northern Oregon coast range and Willamette valley, but also enjoy trips to the Oregon and Washington cascade ranges. For close to home activations I use a Yaesu FT-65 and a half-wave whip on 2 meters. For farther away summits I'll bring my homebrew slim jim antenna and a 28' telescoping pole.
Tech licensed and new to amateur radio.
I frequent the summit areas near me and I’m interested in applying my radio.
GIS specialist, ultra runner, mountain climber, PNW since 2007, born and raised in the Bay.
I've summited several peaks: Hood, Adams, Helens, Broken Top, Wheeler (NM), Elbert (CO). Next up is Washington in NH. New to Ham. Operating Yaesu VX6. Run ultra trail races and want to support with radio.
New to SOTA. Just getting my feet wet
I mostly activate while I am out 4x4 in my truck. I spend a lot of my free time in the hills so sometimes I pack my portable bag along with me. Currently the only rig I am carrying with me is my iCOM IC-7100 and I am mostly using a EFRW antenna
Hello friends! I go by my middle name, so call me Kevin. I'm just getting started in December 2021, and sticking with 2 meters until I get a little more familiar with ham radio. Right now I'm participating in some regional and local nets with a Yaesu ftm-6000r and copper j-pole. We first took interest in ham radio because of wildfires in our area. Several times we have lost all communications. So my wife and I studied to get our technician licenses, so we can stay informed and be of service when our community needs us.
I'm also looking forward to trying some Sota activations in the near future. I have enjoyed many mountaineering trips, but had no radio experience. The idea of remote activations and off-grid operating really sounds fun to me.
Happy New Year 2022! 73's -Kevin KK7CUO
I can't wait to get started, after the spring thaw. I will be studying for my General, so I can work HF from peaks near our homestead. I have climbed many peaks in the PNW, just new to radios. Very excited to begin this new chapter! Peace, Kevin

Licensed since March 2015 Enjoy operating from home and portable. My son KT7WWW was licensed this spring, and now we are having fun doing SOTA summits together. I usually take along both my sons- as of the time I write this one is 12, and the other 5 years old.
I enjoy activating summits with my 2 sons. It makes a great family activity. It's even more fun now that my oldest son has his license and can activate too.

Just getting started
I'm a long time computer geek with over 20 years in programming and low level data recovery from most operating systems. 25+ published Win32 applications, however now "legacy apps." I continue to program in web applications, JavaScript, and database development using both Schema and Schemaless backends (MongoDb).
Hobbiest in RC/FPV. Love hiking, the outdoors and taking long walks with the family and learning something new!
Tech on 5/18/20
General on 6/10/20
I got into Ham to be licensed when running my RC equipment and discovered an interest in RF. Studying for my Extra now and enjoying experimenting with antennas.
So far I've only activated Dimple Hill (CC-118) which is about a 10 mile hike RT from my front door. Great trail and learned to refine my radio pack for the next trip. Activated over VHF SPLX.
I pack a FT-891, MFJ-901B, Linked dipole cut to 20/40. FT-3DR, Miady 8Ah LiFePO4 and rope!
